To everyone who knows and loves Buff,
Some of what was said by Rev. Marianna Harris at Buff's memorial today was uncalled for and inappropriate. Many of us in attendance wanted to stop her but we stayed silent out of respect for Buff's family. That being said, I would like to take this opportunity to speak my piece on what was so coldly stated about the matter of Buff's suicide.
Anyone who knows Buff knows he would never intentionally hurt anyone. It was not in Buff's nature to consider how many people he touched in his short life. It was not in his nature to think about the multitude of people that would mourn his loss so profoundly.
That man had one of the biggest hearts we will ever have the honour of knowing.
It was suggested that he took the easy way out. It is not our place to decide which way is right or wrong, easy or difficult. It was his choice. It was what was right for him, and ended what must have been extreme suffering on his part. It is not our place to speculate as to the cause of Buff's decision to take his life, but to sympathize with our great friend and his struggles that ultimately caused him to leave us.
I asked Rev. Harris after the service why she had chosen to address a persons suicide in this manner at his own memorial and she told me that she didn't want anyone to try to imitate his actions.
I think we can all agree that to imitate Buff at this time would distress him greatly and this would not have been his intention at all.
I really do not know how to end this, all I can say is that I hope Buff has found peace. He will not be forgotten.
Sincerely, Katrina Molson
